Leadership Convenings


The Center for Ethical Leadership in Media plays an important role in disseminating evidence-based solutions and best practices to the media industry to advance culture to be safe, fair and sustainable. Topics have included an annual discussion on the leadership pipeline for women and journalists of color, supporting parents in newsrooms during COVID, behavioral design and an introduction to behavioral ethics.

Attendees have included news leaders from CNET, CNN, the Craig Newmark Foundation, Katie Couric Media, International Women’s Media Foundation, National Geographic, NPR, The New York Times, PBS NewsHour, Scripps, The 19th, The Economist, The Fuller Project, The Wall Street Journal, Columbia Journalism Review, The Washington Post and VICE.

The Center for Ethical Leadership in Media works with a network of certified coaches to provide guidance for current and aspiring media leaders in their pursuit of building safe, fair and dignified workplaces.

  • #UsToo: We offer an innovative, anti-harassment training focused on preventing abuses of power and fostering cultures of safety and trust.
  • Leadership Development: We schedule convene senior news leaders to examine the leadership pipeline in news, and ways to improve workplace culture. We create community with these leaders, support their development.
  • Culture Assessments: We deliver culture assessments to news organizations with findings and recommendations to create fair, safe and dignified work environments. We host staff and leadership educational workshops on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to facilitate solutions for their organizations.
  • Thought Leadership: We author thought leadership on critical issues facing workplace culture.
